Kia to build production plant in Mexico


(MENAFN) Kia Motors Corp, Korea's second automaker, said it plans to build a production plant in Mexico in order to meet demand in the North American market, The Peninsula Qatar reporte



The plant will be the automaker's first production facility in Mexico, with a capacity to make 300,000 vehicles annually, producing compact Soul, Forte subcompact and Picanto minicompac



The company, a part of Hyundai Motor Group, said it expects a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed with the state of Nuevo Leon that will permit a plant to be built in Monterre



"An MoU should be signed next month, with construction to start soon after," a corporate source said, adding that the plant should be able to produce cars starting from 2016
