The dubai police launched an anti-firecrackers drive yesterday keeping in mind public safety during ramadan. government departments business and trade organisations as well as civil society entities are collaborating in the campaign.
Brigadier ali abdulla al ghaithi director of general department of protective security and emergency said groceries and shops will be inspected to see if they are selling firecrackers.
Public lectures will be given to make people aware of the dangers posed by crackers especially when youngsters burst them for a lark during holidays and religious events resulting in burns and sometimes even death. the campaign will see the distribution of brochures in shopping centres mosques and shops.
