UAE- Extensive inspection of food outlets in Fujairah


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The fujairah municipality will conduct extensive inspections during the holy month of ramadan to ensure that food safety rules are followed by eateries in the emirat

According to mohammed saif al afkham director-general of fujairah municipality the public health section will conduct inspections in traditional kitchens restaurants cafeterias bakeries confectioneries groceries consumer complexes retail and trade centres to ensure they are complying with the food safety rules set by the municipality.It will also launch crackdowns on markets and establishments to monitor prices and ensure they are not tampering with the prices and weights of products.The fujairah municipality has also set up the fujairah ramadan bazaar at fujairah corniche and gadfah neighbourhood.The two souqs which are supervised by the public health section house traditional food restaurants. the municipality said permits for opening counters in front of the shops as well as permits for home delivery of food in addition to the issue of health fitness certificate to kitchens which supply meals to ramadan charity tents and charity projects were on the rise.Arrangements are being made for the functioning of the abattoirs in the emirate and the al taween neighbourhood. the new fujairah (branch) slaughterhouse was opened.It will render the service to mirbih gadfa al qiraiya girat and the adjoining areas as demand for butchers often increases during ramadan.Municipality also issued an order to reduce the slaughter prices in abattoirs during the holy month and until the advent of eid al fitr. according to the order the slaughterhouses will remain open from 8am until 4pm and from 9pm until 11.30pm.Also a number of circulars regarding food safety and ramadan rules have been distributed on the occasion of ramadan. these circulars inform the public about the launch of extensive inspections on all stores or facilities dealing with food stuff prohibiting serving food or juices at hotels and hotel apartments in the morning food and beverages can be served to hotel guests only in their rooms. eateries can procure a permit to serve food and delivery outside the restaurant.The municipality has strictly banned the serving or selling of all kinds of alcohol in hotels and clubs cafeterias and cafes are not allowed to open during day time.Firecrackers and fireworks sale is not allowed. complaints and remarks will be received by the emergency and market control office of the municipality at toll free number 80036222.Salah?khaleejtimes.com
