Ban strongly condemns death of three kidnapped Israeli youths

Extending his deepest sympathy to the victims' families, Ban said in the statement that "there can be no justification for the deliberate killing of civilians. He hopes Israeli and Palestinian authorities will work together to bring the perpetrators swiftly to justic



"The Secretary General believes this heinous act by enemies of peace aims to further entrench division and distrust, and to widen the conflict. It must not be allowed to succeed. He calls on all parties to abide by their obligations under international law and to refrain from any actions that could further escalate this highly tense situation," the statement adde



Israeli Ambassador to UN Ron Prosor demanded in a statement issued by his press office that Ban press the Security Council to also condemn the murder of the youths, the firing of missiles from Gaza, and the unity government between Fatah and Hama



He said that since the formation of the Palestinian Unity Government on June 2nd, over 70 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, warning that "Israeli leaders have been clear: we are prepared to take all necessary measures to protect our citizens from Hamas terror. Those who target Israelis with terrorism today will pay a very heavy price tomorrow.
