Oman- MoT delegation visits the wave, Muscat to discover new horizons

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) In efforts to gain valuable insight into Oman's leading lifestyle and leisure destination, market based representatives (MBRs) of the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) were recently welcomed to The Wave, Muscat's waterfront community to tour the master plan's various existing and planned aspects.

The MBR delegation aimed to discover new horizons on offer at The Wave, Muscat that can be promoted as unique tourism selling points in more than 15 key markets across the globe. During their visit, the MBRs also explored the many amenities available at The Wave, Muscat and together with some of the project's management, identified ways to further encourage more tourists to come and experience the country's leisure and lifestyle hot spots that have been meticulously designed to meet every discerning tourist's needs.

On the occasion, Hawazen Esber, CEO of The Wave, Muscat, said, "Welcoming the ministry's representatives to our waterfront community was truly an honour, especially in light of The Wave, Muscat being the only project of its kind to be selected as a must see integrated tourism complex (ITC) during the MBRs short stint in Oman.

This is part and parcel of the MoT's efforts to encourage inbound tourism to the country and support mega hospitality projects that home some of the country's prized world-class attractions such as the 18-hole PGA standard links Almouj Golf, 400-berth Almouj Marina and luxury hotel facilities.'' ''For the past ten years, we have been representing Oman's Ministry of Tourism and managing the PR and marketing for the ministry in our countries.

Throughout the years, we could realise the importance of promoting ‘Destination Oman' in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia. Today, we can observe the remarkable progress achieved in the tourism sector thanks to the enormous tourism infrastructure including the hospitality projects and tourism complexes like The Wave, Muscat,'' said Karin Zwiers, general manager for German-speaking countries, Scandinavia and Finland.

Leslie Rigal, in-charge of promotion at the Ministry of Tourism's office in France said that in 2013, the number of French tourists reached 47,000, marking an increase of 19.3 per cent. ''One of the key elements that attract French people to travel abroad is golf as many are golfers; thus we are cooperating with Almouj Golf to support promoting Oman.

Last year, Almouj Golf sponsored one of the golf tournaments in Geneva and it worked to enthrall the people. As a PGA standard golf course designed by Greg Norman, Almouj Golf serves as a key tourist attraction in Oman and today, Oman is one of the ideal tourism destinations for French people and tourism business to the country is really developing,'' Leslie sa
