Journey of Hope leaves Algiers


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Journey of Hope sailed off the Port of Algiers on Saturday, heading to Morocco as part of its worldwide tour to express solidarity with people with mental disabilitie



The crew was seen off Kuwaiti Ambassador to Algeria Saud Al-Doweesh, who told KUNA that the Journey is nothing but a "kind and humanitarian gesture under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah." He added that the Journey "is a clear message from Kuwaitis to the whole world regarding the disabled's potentials and the Kuwaiti government's utmost care for this segment in society." The "Journey of Hope" boat's 22-stop overseas tour aims at showing the world Kuwait's special experience in caring for the mentally-disable



The Journey heads to Washington D.C. and will return back in a 210-day-long expedition. It will stop in 19 countries and 22 ports of cal



Over 22 celebratory events are held at intervals in all ports en route with a view to unifying people of all cultures and religions towards a collective effort to care for and benefit those with intellectual disability everywher



The 88-foot boat carrying the 16 crew members was entirely made by Kuwaiti craftsmen, and the crew includes nine navigation officers from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense
