UAE- 60 private schools in Sharjah allowed to hike fees

The sharjah education zone has granted permission to 60 private schools to hike fees for the academic year 2014-2015. the fees will be hiked between two to five per cent based on the standards of the quality of education provided.Speaking to khaleej times hessa al khaja head of private education department in sharjah said they formed a committee to review the hiking requests submitted by schools. the committee ruled that 60 schools deserved to increase the fees for this academic year by not more than five per cent. schools which failed to include any “logical reasons” to hike fees were not allowed to do so.The 60 schools which have received the approval will notify the parents of the students.“the 60 schools include those that follow the ministry indian pakistani and american curriculums. the number of schools that requested fee hike increased by 13 per cent as compared to the last year” al khajja said.The committee visited the schools which requested fee hike to ensure that set standards were being followed in the education process. the approved hikes were based on the standards issued by the ministry of education.The committee will continue visiting these schools to ensure that they are abiding by the standards and rules which made them eligible them for the hike.The department warned that they would issue hefty fines against schools that hike fees without obtaining permission from the sharjah education zone.Afkarali?khaleejtimes.com
