Omani employees go on strike at Lulu hypermarket

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Some Omani employees of Lulu Hypermarket in Oman went on strike on Thursday with a number of demands including salary hikes and an annual bonus

Some of the strikers claimed that over a thousand of their colleagues had gone on strike across hypermarkets in the sultanate.

"We will continue with our strike till our demands are met by the management. So far, the management has not initiated any discussion with our representatives. We had informed our plans to strike work to the Ministry of Manpower and other concerned government agencies," said a striking worker at Lulu Darsait.

According to him, the workers on strike are seeking a hike in monthly salary, an annual bonus, better treatment by the management and yearly promotions.

''There were long queues at the cash counters and customers were angry with the delay. We plan to continue with our strike. Employees on strike wore badges stating that they were on strike," said another striker who works as a cashier at Lulu Darsait.

Lulu officials could not be contacted for a comment at the time of publishing this report.
