(MENAFN - #Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) #Iraq on Wednesday appreciated the State of Kuwait's stance of allowing its embassy to continue operating despite the unstable situation the country is going through.

A statement by the Iraqi foreign ministry read that Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met earlier today with Kuwait's Ambassador Ghassan Al-Zawawi and discussed bilateral relations.

"Both also reviewed political and security situations in the country and the Iraqi Government's relentless efforts in face of terrorist groups." It also quoted Ambassador Al-Zawawi's "assurance" of keeping the embassy functional and on top of business.

Last Monday, the Kuwaiti foreign ministry refuted media claims that it has recalled its ambassador and other diplomats from Iraq.

In a statement, the ministry said that the Kuwaiti diplomatic mission is remaining in Iraq, but it has been down-sized due to the current security unrest in the country.
