(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Paul Ricard in southern France hosts the third round of the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series on June 28 where Omani racer Ahmad al Harthy and his British teammates Michael Caine and Stephen Jelley will be striving to post their best result of the season.
A few days after the fifth and sixth rounds of the British GT Championship at Snetterton, UK, the squad reunites with Jelley for the eagerly awaited visit to the popular Le Castellet track near Marseille, France.
Round three of the Blancpain Series will provide a different challenge from those of the first two events of the season, the three-hour encounter taking place during the evening and offering a glimpse of what to expect when the Total 24 Hours of Spa takes place in Belgium in July.
Last time out at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit in the UK, Ahmad and Co earned their first Blancpain points with a top ten finish - ninth spot in the Pro Cup class.
Crucially, emerging from the previous round as the quickest of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 squads, the Oman Racing Team (ORT) carries confidence into the coming event and hopes of adding to its championship points tally.
''We are aiming for our best result of the Blancpain season, we scored points in our last race at Silverstone and want to do better at Paul Ricard,'' said Ahmad.
''Blancpain was always a development programme for us this year, and it still is, but good results in the British GT Championship help to get us used to the Aston Martin.'' ORT is placed 12th in the Blancpain Series Pro Cup driver standing after Round two and eighth in the team standings.<
