Internship for Omani engineering graduates launched


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Huawei, in association with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), has launched an internship programme for fresh Omani engineering graduates who are keen to pursue a career in the region's growing telecom industry.

The programme was launched on Tuesday under the auspices of H E Said bin Hamdoun al Harthy, Undersecretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Speaking on the occasion, H E Wu Jiuhong, Ambassador of China to the sultanate said, ''This programme is the best example of cooperation between Chinese companies and Oman. It is an important project that will be beneficial to future generations as well.''

H E Jiuhong congratulated all parties on this unique initiative and wished them luck in grooming the next generation of Omani telecom experts.

Enrollment will be offered to graduates on a quarterly basis, structured as a three-month programme with the first phase set to begin by September 1.

''The Omani government is focusing on human resources development to maximise work output and supporting local talent to contribute in the country's long-term economic prosperity,'' said Dr Hamed Salim al Rawahi, executive president, TRA. ''This initiative will open up new opportunities for Omani graduates.''

Tony Luo, general manager, Huawei Oman, said, ''Real world experience is the best way for students to understand the application of theories they learn during their university coursework. We at Huawei believe that businesses only prosper in a healthy society. Hence, we are committed to improve people's lives not only by providing cutting edge technologies but by helping the new generation to secure a better future for Oman.''

The internship programme will provide graduates a chance to learn, adapt and grow in a fast-paced professional environment with mentoring from leaders in Oman's telecom industry.

At the same time, the programme will help to enhance participants' soft skills.

Mentors will work with interns to develop their skills in specialised areas and other areas like core network technologies, radio access networks, media and applications.

The programme will be conducted by senior HR staff, IT experts, consultants and business managers.

At the end of each programme, high performers will even be given an opportunity to build their career with Huawei, or given recommendations for other companies in the indust
