Fresh air strikes N. Pakistan kill 15 militants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 15 suspected militants were killed as jet aircrafts destroyed eight hideouts in North Waziristan tribal agency of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military Monday. A press release by public relations department of Pakistan Army, Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said, "Eight terrorist's hideouts around Mirali, North Waziristan Agency were destroyed by jet aircrafts. Fifteen terrorists were killed in the strikes." ISPR said that while the operation "ZARB -E AZB" progresses as per plan, terrorists inside cordoned area are making desperate attempts to flee, adding that tunnels were spotted in the targeted areas. ISPR confirmed that 10 terrorists were killed while fleeing from the cordoned off area in Spinwam and Mirali, where two soldiers were killed in exchange of fire. Meanwhile, aerial surveillance, vigorous patrolling and cordon around the area housing terrorists' area continue. Pakistan military launched its long-awaited comprehensive operation "Zarb-e-Azb" in the tribal region following an attack on the country's largest airport in Karachi city that killed over 28 people. So far, over 260 militants, including many foreigners have been reportedly killed in the operation where the ground offensive is yet to be launched.
