UAE- Bootlegging bid foiled in Capital


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The general administration of customs � abu dhabi foiled an attempt to smuggle 22974 bottles of alcohol at al ghuwaifat customs centre after it received leads from the ministry of interior.

a 45-year-old arab truck driver raised the suspicion of the ports and airports security police staff following which he was subjected to inspection. the 22974 bottles of alcohol were found “hidden professionally” among juice boxes in the inspection.

mohammed khadem al hameli acting director-general of the administration praised the customs inspectors’ ongoing efforts to prevent illegal smuggling across the borders and expressed his confidence in the abu dhabi customs. he stressed on the “important role” they are playing in protecting their homeland from any potential risks and maintaining security.

al hameli also praised the role played by police officials and other security agencies operating at al ghuwaifat border port and stressed the importance of committing to a unified security system designed to maintain security and safety.
