Rafsanjani hopes Iran contributes to ending conflict in Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani Sunday hoped Tehran contributed to defusing the conflict in neighboring Iraq. "We do not want to interfere in internal affairs of other countries, and hope we can be good mediators to defuse this fire" in Iraq, Rafsanjani was quoted by official IRNA news agency as saying during a meeting with visiting Foreign Minister of New Zealand Murray McCully. He described the developments in Iraq as "complicated" fueled by the residuals of Baath party and disputed matters. McCully said that "peoples and countries are waiting for Iran to use its powers to eliminate expansion of conflicts" in Iraq. New Zealand, he added, has been contacting countries around the globe to explore means to addressing the crisis in the Middle East. McCully calledon Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki to form an inclusive government.
