Smartphones total highest portion of UAE's telecom market

(MENAFN) Smartphones have totaled 52 percent of the UAE's telecom market registered on the emirate's network during first quarter of 2014, according to Khaleej Times. Latest statistics revealed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) that smartphones, which recorded 10 percent growth in 2013, further strengthened their position in first quarter of 2014 by posting a nominal one percent edge over the basic phones. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, director-general of TRA, said: "The report illustrates a number of interesting trends emerging in the UAE's mobile handset market. It also demonstrates the dynamic nature of consumer patterns in relation to handset choices."
