(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal and visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed here on Saturday bilateral relations and several key issues, mainly Syria and Iraq. Both foreign ministers had lengthy and deep talks on ways and means of promoting and reinforcing bilateral relations and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Russian foreign minister's visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came following a recent visit by Prince Saud Al-Faisal to Russia, it added. Al-Faisal and Lavrov focused on the current situation in Iraq and its negative reflections on the entire region, and efforts to ensure Iraq's security, stability, national unity and territorial integrity, stressing equality among all Iraq categories in view of rights and duties, the ministry noted. The Saudi minister said to attain this goal, then there should be a national unity government involving all different categories of all the Iraqi people without any racial or sectarian discrimination, it said. But, he emphasized that foreign intervention for the time being would deepen the crisis and fuel sectarian tensions in Iraq due to growing sectarian exclusion there.
