Regime air strikes kill 15 Syrians in Deir Ezzor

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 15 people were killed by a wave of air raids carried out Saturday by the Syrian air force on the city of Mo Hasan, in Deir Ezzor Province, one day after its fall in the hands of fighters of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). In a press statement, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the government warplanes carried out six raids on areas in the city of Mo Hasan and its vicinity. The raids led to death of 15 people, including 2 women, while a lot of people were injured, said SOHR, adding that the number of the dead is expected to rise because there are some people who are seriously wounded. The jetfighters also conducted raids on areas near the Syrian-Iraqi border from Al Bokamal side as well as the town of Al Mre'eyyi and village of Al Tabeyyi Al Shameyyi. In meantime, the Syrian Observatory revealed that the corpses of vice-leader of the military council in Deir Ezzor province and 2 commanders in Al Haq group were found at the bank of the Euphrates River after being kidnapped by a battalion loyal to ISIL. The sources from the city of Mo Hasan reported to the Observatory activists that ISIL, which took control over the city yesterday, has prevented people to get close to the corpses, where it left them in the open-air for long hours and did not allow people to bury the bodies but after the intervention of intermediary parties. Moreover, four combatants from the Islamic battalions were killed yesterday in clashes with ISIL fighters in the city of Mo Hasan. SOHR noted that ISIL has taken control over the city of Mo Hasan and the two strategic towns of Al Bo Lel and Al Bo Amer in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor or what is known as Al Shameyyi Line on the Euphrates River near the military airport of Deir Ezzor which was the headquarter of the military council for the rebel battalions. It stated that this advancement is considered a very important and strategic step because ISIL has tried to take a complete control over areas in the east of Deir Ezzor in order to reach to the Syrian- Iraqi borders, and then to connect its held- areas in both Syria and Iraq with each other. The regime helicopters continued dropping of barrel bombs on the opposition-held areas in the governorates of Aleppo and Deraa as well as on parts of Damascus countryside.
