Argentina to Round of 16 after 1-0 victory over relentless Iran

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Argentina barely managed to qualify to the Round of 16 on Saturday after a 1-0 victory over a relentless Iran of Group G in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The two-time World Cup Champions struggled to the last minute of original time to score through Lionel Messi in the 91 minute. Nevertheless, the Argentineans wasted loads of chances to score, mainly due to a solid Iranian defense. However, the Iranians were not short of counter attacks throughout the match, which occasionally resulted in scoring opportunities that were thwarted by goalie Sergio Romero. With six points, Argentina is off to the next round, while Iran is still holding onto its sole point, same as Nigeria, who are to meet Bosnia and Herzegovina; still without points, later tonight.
