(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The squabbles among the top echelons of the bureaucracy rocked the kerala state assembly on friday leading to a walkout by the cpm-led opposition left democratic front (ldf).

leader of opposition v s achuthanandan led the walkout after speaker g karthikeyan turned down their plea to discuss the administrative standstill caused by the infighting among the indian administrative service (ias) officers.

the communist party of india-marxist veteran accused chief secretary e k bharath bhushan against whom a revolt is brewing of indulging in corruption and demanded a probe against him after keeping him out of office. he alleged that bhushan had allotted prime government land worth rs80 million in the heart of the capital city to a private builder by flouting the norms.

achuthanandan had on thursday accused the chief secretary of concealing his wealth. he alleged that he had not disclosed a house he owned at greater noida in new delhi to the state government. the opposition leader described bhushan as a charioteer of chief minister oommen chandy in the matter of corruption.

the accusations against bhushan followed a complaint lodged by printing and stationery director raju narayanaswamy with the ias officers association alleging harassment from the head of the civil servants.

the association had planned to meet the chief minister to raise this and other complaints against the chief secretary but the move was dropped at the last moment. association sources said some other members had also serious grievances against the chief secretary.
