Tokyo Stocks End up Thursday


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo june 19 (qna) - tokyo stocks index rose for the third consecutive day to end at nearly a five-month high thursday bolstered by upbeat market sentiment amid speculation us monetary easing will remain in place for some time to back an economic recovery according to japan's (kyodo) news agency.

the 225-issue nikkei stock average ended up 245.36 points or 1.62% from wednesday at 15361.16 the highest closing since jan. 29. the broader topix index of all first section issues on the tokyo stock exchange finished 19.89 points or 1.59% higher at 1269.04.

major gainers included mining glass and ceramics products and iron and steel shares. (qna)
