Japan N. Korea to Hold Abduction Talks


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo june 19 (qna) - japan will hold talks with north korea soon on the issue of pyongyang's abductions of japanese nationals japan's chief cabinet secretary yoshihide suga said.

"japan and north korea will hold intergovernmental talks to follow up on the recent bilateral agreement" suga said adding the date and venue are still being arranged.

north korea will discuss details of its special investigation committee to be launched for a "comprehensive and full-scale survey of all japanese" including those north korea abducted in the 1970s and 1980s according to japan's (kyodo) news agency.

the two countries agreed last month in stockholm that north korea will reinvestigate the fate of all abduction victims in exchange for a lifting of some of the unilateral sanctions imposed by japan on the country. (qna)
