UAE summons ambassador from Iraq for consultation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UAE has called in its ambassador from Baghdad Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Shihi for consultation in light of the current dangerous developments that Iraq is witnessing, UAE Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. In a statement, carried by Emirates News Agency (WAM), the ministry expressed its deep concern towards the continuation of the policy of exclusion, sectarianism, and marginalization of basic components of the Iraqi people. "Such an approach will exacerbate the situation and will create a political environment that will lead to a further growth in political tensions and deterioration of the security situation in Iraq," said the ministry. The statement also said that the UAE strongly believes that exiting this cycle of violence cannot be found through further exclusionary and sectarian policies, and strategies that are embedded in the statement of the Iraqi government issued yesterday, reaffirming at the same time its condemnation of and deploring of Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) terrorism, which led to the killing of many innocent Iraqis." The UAE also believes that the only way to save Iraq and to preserve its territorial integrity and stability is through adopting a national approach, based on consensus, which brings people together without excluding anyone, added the ministry. The foreign ministry reaffirmed UAE's full and clear support of Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity as it is a top Arab national priority, adding at the same time that Abu Dhabi also reaffirms its keenness on Iraq's stability, and its total rejection of any interference in its internal affairs.
