(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The all-new 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI were awarded the IIHS 2014 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), the IIHS 2014 Top Safety Pick award for good performance in each of the Institute's crashworthiness evaluations, including the small overlap front test.

This is the first time IIHS has rated the WRX and WRX STI, which were both completely redesigned for 2015. With the addition to the 2015 WRX, Subaru now has six models that have earned 2014 safety awards from IIHS “ three with Top Safety Pick and three with Top Safety Pick including its Legacy sedan and Outback models.

Subaru has more 2014 IIHS Top Safety Picks than any other brand. ''Safety is one of our brand tenets and so we are extremely proud to have earned a TSP rating for our performance models,'' said Thomas J Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. ''We are committed to providing engaging driving together with safety and this award is testament to that commitment.''

The all-new Subaru WRX STI and WRX stay true to their unrivalled performance heritage while bringing luxury and refinement to a new level. The engineering marvel is a result of a combination of the highest range of technologies and improvements to present one of the best versions of the brand's iconic performance models. These allnew models far surpass the already impressive performance and luxury characteristics of previous generations.

Engineered for those who take driving seriously, the all-new 2015 Subaru WRX STI is the ultimate package powered with a 2.5lt DOHC 16 valve turbocharged boxer engine delivering 300hp and 407Nm torque with an acceleration of 0- 100k/hr in 5.2 sec. This is an ideal product for drivers wanting top-range luxury and performance. WRX STI as the top grade model of the WRX series, the allnew WRX STI embodies at an even higher level the shared product series concept: 'Pure Power in Your Control'.

The unrivalled WRX STI character from successive generations has been honed yet again by further improving its practicality as a performance four-door sedan. The 2015 WRX STI takes motorsports pedigree to the road. The product concept Pure Power in Your Control' was established during development of the new WRX series. This concept aims to reach an even higher order of absolute speed' and driving excitement' for performance sedans, the goal pursued in successive generations of WRX series.

This product concept was embodied to maximize the potential of the turbo Boxer engine and the pursuit of ultimate control performance, allowing drivers to steer the vehicle exactly as they imagine. To this end, the body has been made lighter and more rigid, integrating extensive chassis reinforcements.

The all-new 2015 Subaru WRX with its bold new widebody sedan design and expanded performance envelope, marks a major evolutionary step for the rally-bred performance car that has become a global automotive legend. Powered by the new 268hp 2lt Direct Injection Turbo (DIT) Boxer engine, the WRX will be available in a new standard sixspeed manual transmission as well as a new Sport Lineartronic transmission with manual mode. The WRX will sport a new, refined look, with a much stiffer chassis, which includes a wide body styling, a new flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports exhaust system and 17'' alloy wheels.

A roomier interior, upgraded cabin comfort and materials and a wide array of new user technologies give the all-new WRX a more refined feel. The WRX introduces luxury with sports bucket seats with red stitching. The central console area which houses all controls has been elegantly designed with carbon and metal trims. Like every other Subaru, the WRX has gone through comprehensive testing that conforms to the highest safety levels of Subaru's safety philosophy of All- Around Safety', enhancing performance in all safety fields. Subaru has a strong presence in the sultanate with a current line-up that includes Impreza, Legacy, Forester, Outback, XV, BRZ, WRX STI & WRX models. OTE Group is the exclusive dealer for Subaru in Oman offering excellent sales & after-sales service support on par with global standards through a nationwid
