(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Doctors at the state-run civil hospital in ahmedabad were on tuesday battling to save the life of a 15-year-old dalit girl who has been admitted with 80 per cent burns after she was set ablaze by her neighbours in a village in surendranagar district on sunday night.
according to the police eight people also dalits who doused kerosene over chandrika parmar and set her alight have fled sayla village 120km from ahmedabad.
the accused a family living next door had a verbal exchange with parmar’s widowed mother after waste water from the victim’s house flowed into neighbouring homes. soon parmar was beaten black and blue. she went to the police but the cops did not lend their ears to her.
as soon as she returned home eight family members gatecrashed into parmar’s house with a kerosene-filled can and attempted to burn her alive before playing the vanishing trick.
on june 5 a woman and her two kids were burnt alive after their hut caught fire in a remote village in gujarat’s kutch district.
