(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications signed 31 agreements worth RO327.82mn on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, H E Dr Futaisi said that these agreements show the government's keenness to develop the road network. ''This will go a long way in facilitating people's movement and boosting the country's economy in areas like tourism and commerce.'' He said that the Ministry of Transport and Communications is following up on status of all road projects being executed across the country.
''The ministry will initiate legal action, and even impose fines on any executing company found not sticking to the project deadline. Termination of the contract will be used as the last resort.''
He said that project schedules vary depending on the size, but bigger projects usually take three years to complete.
