(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) W york june 17 (qna) - russia presented a new draft resolution on ukraine at a meeting of the un security council russia's ambassador to the un said upon the end of the meeting which the security council members held behind closed doors.
"as you hopefully know we’re watching the situation in ukraine closely and it’s one of our priorities during our presidency at the security council" he said. "over the past two weeks russia has presented two drafts on ukraine which focused on humanitarian as well as political aspects of the situation there." "we continue working actively on a version of the resolution that would be supported by the security council" churkin said.
he said prior to the meeting that discussions with other members of the security council had resulted in a decision "to enrich the text of the resolution by including in it some passages from the previous draft" which was made public at the beginning of the month and envisioned the setting up of humanitarian corridors.
