the roads and transport authority (rta) is urging all motorists to register their personal details at the customer service centres under the vehicles licencing department so that they don’t have to make a personal appearance for future transactions.

this drive is expected to benefit women and senior citizens especially.
mohammed abdul karim nimaat director of vehicles licencing said the new service is the first of its kind in the region.
nimaat said it has several benefits. earlier customers needed to give the power of attorney to their representatives if they were unable to personally attend to the transactions. this entailed going to the notary public services for the attestation and was a lengthy process.
the transactions that can be done with the pin include vehicle registration export transfer and number plate sale.
the new initiative complements the rta’s electronic drive an integral part of the vision of his highness shaikh mohammed bin rashid al maktoum vice-president and prime minister of the uae and ruler of dubai to switch all transactions and services to the smart mode.
