Royal Oman Police News ROP teams attend meetings in US, Riyadh


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) To prevent smuggling of small arms and light weapons, the ROP is taking part in a series of meetings in New York, US. The meetings which began on Monday, will  continue till Friday. 

A press release stated that the delegation is headed by Col Awadh bin Batay al Mandhari, assistant director general of logistics and supplies.

Besides, a delegation led by Lt Col Zahir bin Khalaf al Aufi and civilian officer Badr bin Abduallah al Sheedi is on a two-day visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to review the unified Customs Law. The delegation is taking part in the joint meetings of the technical team reviewing the law.

The participation comes within the framework to exchange expertise with friendly countries to further strengthen the police force.

Man held with drugs in Shinas 

Sleuths from the Directorate General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances under the North Batinah Police Command have arrested a man from Shinas for drugs possession, use and trafficking. Heroin and cash were also seized.

Two held for stealing cash, cards from Ibri shop

Two Asians have been arrested and referred for trial on charges of breaking into a retail outlet in Ibri and stealing RO2,500 in cash and mobile phone recharge cards worth RO700.

An official from the Ibri police station said action was taken after receiving an anonymous call about the thefts. The accused were arrested and are said to have admitted to the thefts.
