FANA Secretariat meets in Bahrain


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Secretariat of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) convened its annual meeting in Manama on Monday under the chairmanship of FANA President and Director General of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah Al-Hussein. The meeting discussed a range of files inter alia the coordination between the Arab wire services, the joint training programs for editors of the FANA member agencies. In his inaugural speech, Al-Hussein said the FANA made outstanding achievements in the joint action and deepening cooperation among the Arab wire services and modernizing them. "FANA is stepping forward amid fierce competition among the mass media and accelerated changes on the media arena as well as the information and communications technology (ICT) revolution," he affirmed. "FANA gained successful experiences from the fruitful cooperation between the regional and international media organizations," Al-Husseini said, noting that the FANA Secretariat will be meeting the executive board of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) tomorrow. During its last conference, held in Saudi Arabia in last November, FANA's General Assembly reached a number of highly-important decisions on partnerships with other regional organizations, he said. Board Chairman and Director General of KUNA Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Sabah took part today's meeting. His is deputy president of the FANA. The current members of FANA Secretariat are the SPA, Egypt's Middle East News Agency (MENA), Qatar News Agency (QNA), Morocco News Agency (MAP) and Bahrain News Agency (BNA) - the host of the meeting.
