Russian FM appreciates Serbia's rejection of sanctions on Moscow


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Monday appreciated Serbia's positions that supported unity of Europe, in reference to Belgrade's rejection of the European sanctions against Moscow. Lavrov was quoted by Serbian radio as saying following his arrival in Belgrade that Ukraine should stop violence and work on addressing the gas crisis with Russia. Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic that his country would work on deepening strategic relations with Russia. Serbia is under pressure by the European Union countries and the US to join the sanctions against Russia, imposed after Moscow annexed Crimea. Serbia is against the sanctions because it considered Russia an ally that supported Belgrade's rejection to the independence of Kosovo.
