(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) One gangster was killed while two others sustained injuries in an exchange of fire between the police and a gang in the lyari area of karachi.
ghaffar niazi a criminal associated with the lyari gang war was killed on monday in a police encounter in karachi’s moosa lane locality.
the police got a tip-off about presence of gangsters belonging to the sheraz comrade group which is one of the gangs involved in lyari gang war in the area.
when a police party reached the area the suspects opened fire. in retaliatory firing by the police gangster ghaffar niazi was killed while two others were injured critically.
according to the police niazi was involved in several cases of murder attempted murder and kidnappings for ransom.
he was considered a key figure in the gang war senior police official abdul khaliq sheikh said.
a huge cache of arms a number of cordless phones and hand grenades were recovered from ghaffar’s possession. niazi was also the cousin of ayaz niazi alias bhoora who was killed in october last year. — online
