(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul june 16 (qna) - south korea and the european union will work together to develop technologies for next-generation mobile information and communication network while also jointly seeking to set global standards with the new technology the south korean government said monday.
such an agreement was reflected in a joint declaration signed and announced at a seoul hotel.
"in the joint declaration the two sides agreed to work closely to strengthen their cooperation in the information and communication technology (ict) sector especially working closely together to develop related technologies standards and policies for the fifth-generation (5g) network" the south korean ministry of science ict and future planning said in a press release.
to this end the sides will set up a joint working group which will plan and set up joint research and development projects it added.
the two sides have also agreed to work together in forming a global consensus on the definition of new 5g network technologies while exchanging their policies on the frequency for the next generation mobile communication network to help enhance the interoperability of their separate systems and devices south korean news agency (yonhap) reported.
they will also boost their bilateral cooperation at international organizations and venues such as the international telecommunication union and world radio communication conference the ministry said.
"finally the two sides acknowledged the importance of cooperation between the private and public sectors for the development of 5g network and expressed their support for exchanges between related industrial groups of south korea and europe" the ministry said. (qna)
