Japan OSCE Meet in Tokyo


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo june 16 (qna) - japan and the organization for security and cooperation in europe opened a two-day meeting monday in tokyo at which officials from the two sides are expected to focus on regional security issues such as the crisis in ukraine china's muscle flexing in the east and south china seas as well as north korea's nuclear ambitions.

japanese foreign ministry officials said that japan and the 57-member osce will also discuss enhanced connectivity in asia and europe from economic perspectives such as energy and water as well as increasing the economic role of women according to japan's (kyodo) news agency.

in an opening address japanese deputy foreign minister shinsuke sugiyama said the security environments in europe and asia "have become more inseparable and increasingly severe" in an apparent reference to russia's annexation of crimea from ukraine and china's attempt to undermine japan's administration of the senkaku islands in the east china sea.
