Arab Human Rights Cmte discusses Israeli violations in Palestine


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Members of the Arab Human Rights Standing Committee met in the Arab League on Sunday to discuss means of improving human rights in the Arab world, as well as confronting the systematic Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories. Committee Chairman Dr. Ali Al-Marri said in a press statement the members would be discussing over five days a report by the Arab League Secretariat regarding the implementation of recommendations of previous meetings. Al-Marri, also Chairman of the Qatari National Human Rights Committee, said the committee members discussed the Israeli human rights violations in occupied Arab territories, the conditions of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, as well as the bodies of Palestinian and Arab nationals held by the Israeli occupation authorities. They sought to address the Israeli human rights violations through the Geneva conventions, Al-Marri pointed out. They have also discussed the Arab Human Rights Charter, an Arab plan to boost human rights awareness and the updating of the Arab agreement on the status of refugees in Arab countries, he added.
