(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said here on Saturday his country has no plan to send forces to Iraq to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), locally known as Daesh group.
He blamed those who had failed in the recent Iraqi elections for the spreading of terrorism and weapons in Iraq.
He said at a news conference to mark the first anniversary of his presidential race win that if Baghdad asks for help, Tehran will support its neighbor based on the international rules and regulations.
Asked about a looming confrontation between Iran and the ISIL, Rouhani said Tehran will resolutely defend its borders against any types of assaults.
But, the Iranian president confirmed that his country would not send forces to Iraq to fight "terrorism".
