(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait city june 3: the statistical section of the interior ministry's research department has released a statistical report about the reported crimes and ministry's performance in 2013. 'the report reveals a two-percent rise in the number of reported crime in 2013 compared with that of 2012' acting head of the statistical section dr tareq al-doub said during a ceremony held tuesday by the research department on the occasion of releasing the annual statistical report. he added that the figures aslo showed that the number of crimes with known perpetrators increased by five percent while the number of crimes with unknown perpetrators declined by two percent.
the number of high crimes jumped by eight percent while the misdemeanor crimes slumped by four percent al-doub added. hawalli governorate topped the list of the governorates with highest number of registered crimes followed by al- farwaniyah and assemah governorates. mubarak al-kaber governorate came at the bottom of the list preceded by al-jahra governorate he said quoting the report.
in a speech on behalf of the deputy prime minister minister of interior and acting minister of awqaf and islamic affairs sheikh mohammad khaled al-hamad al- sabah the interior ministry's undersecretary lieutenant general suleiman al-fahad hailed the report and the efforts of the team which compiled it. al-fahad said that the figures and data analysis included in this distinguished report would enable the ministry's decisionmakers to take all the required measures and actions to maintain security fight crimes arrest offenders and prevent future crimes. meanwhile assistant undersecretary for public security affairs at the interior ministry major general abdulfattah al-ali recently paid surprise visits to different police stations in jahra to personally look into their work procedures.
according to a security source the visit was aimed at checking the level of work commitment amongst the personnel in the stations particularly their adherence to bylaws and attendance regulations in a bid to continuously improve the security sector.
