Japan's April Machinery Orders Down 9.1%


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Kyo june 12 (qna) - japan's core private-sector machinery orders plunged a seasonally adjusted 9.1% from a month earlier in april with the first consumption tax hike in 17 years in the month blurring the economic outlook the government said thursday.

japan's cabinet office said that the core orders excluding those for ships as well as from utilities because of their volatility fell for the first time in two months to 851.3 billion yen following record growth of 19.1% in march according to japan's (kyodo) news agency.

total orders including those from the domestic public sector and abroad surged 34.8% to 3126.0 billion yen the highest since comparable data became available in april 2005 due to big orders exceeding 10 billion yen the office said. (qna)
