(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ala lumpur june 12 (qna) - the sales value for the manufacturing sector in malaysia during april 2014 rose by 7.7% about (rm3.8 billion) to rm53.2 billion from the rm49.4 billion reported a year ago.
on a month-on-month basis however the sales value decreased by 4.8% about (rm2.7 billion) compared with the preceding month of rm55.9 billion said the department of statistics malaysia.
"on a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis the sales value in april 2014 increased by 0.3%" it added.
the department said the total number of employees engaged in the manufacturing sector in april was 1.026 million persons an increase of 0.2% compared with the preceding month according to malaysia's (bernama) news agency.
meanwhile on a year-on-year basis the number of employees increased by 0.3% about (3183 persons) compared with 1.023 million persons in the same month last year.
the department said total employees in march 2014 had been revised negative 0.02% year-on-year to record 1.025 million persons. (qna)
