S. Korea's Export Price Index in May Falls


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul june 12 (qna) - south korea's export price index fell to the lowest in six years and five months in may due to the strength of the won.

the bank of korea said thursday that the export price index was 86.8 last month down 1.6% from april.

the drop shows for sales of the same product the proceeds converted to won were 1.6% lower on average in may compared to april.

last month's export price index was the lowest since december 2007 korea's (kbs world) reported.

the central bank attributed the fall to the 1.9% drop in the dollar from 1044.55 won on average in april to 1024.99 in may.

the import price index also decreased 1.7% month-on-month in may. the drop marked the lowest in four years and three months since february 2010. (qna)
