(MENAFN) Customs data showed that South Korea's imports of passenger vehicle increased 7 percent in 2013 over a year, as imports from the US and the EU increased, QNA reported.
According to the Korea Customs Service, South Korea imported some 153,000 passenger vehicles last year, up from 143,000 imported units in 2012.
During the January-April period of 2014, the country imported about 62,000 automobiles, a 45.1 percent jump over the same period a year earlier, according to South Korea's (Yonhap) News Agency.
The increase is attributable to lower trade barriers under free trade deals with the EU and the US, which respectively went into effect in 2011 and 2012, the agency said.
