Possible friendly fire kills 5 Americans in Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Five American troops were killed in Afghanistan yesterday during a security operation, according to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby Tuesday. Kirby said in a statement, "Investigators are looking into the likelihood that friendly fire was the cause." Officials from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) noted in a statement from Kabul that the incident occurred when the Americans came into contact with enemy forces. The ISAF statement reiterated, "Tragically, there is the possibility that fratricide may have been involved," the statement said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these fallen," said Kirby.
