(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The foundation stone of the French School Muscat's new campus in Airport Heights was laid on Tuesday.
Currently operating from Bausher, the school can accommodate 220 students while the new facility will accommodate 420. The campus will have 25 classrooms, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and other facilities. The first phase of construction will be completed by the end of 2015 while the second is expected to be over by September 2018.
Nadden Attieh, chairman of the board of directors of French school in Oman said, ''The new campus for the French International School will go a long way in providing quality educational services to the French speaking community in Oman.''
He added, ''There has been a rapid growth in the number of people patronising private and bilingual schools, especially those that offer English and French languages. These schools follow international curricula offering the finest educational services to various communities residing in the sultanate.''
Later at a ceremony held at the French Embassy in Muscat, in the presence of officials from Agency for French Teaching Abroad, H E Yves Oudin, Ambassador of France to Oman said, ''This school will not only be a symbol of the continuing friendship between Oman and France, but it will help enrich the French-speaking cultural scene in the country. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the government of Oman for making this land available to the French school.''
The construction of the campus has been undertaken by Sam Constructions and assisted by Artelia Engineers, whereas the Ministry of Housing has provided land
