23 Iraqis killed, 65 others wounded in twin blasts in N.Baghdad


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Twenty-three Iraqis were killed and 65 others wounded in twin suicide explosions targeting offices of President Jalal Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party and the Iraqi Communist Party at Tuz Khormato city in Saladin Province, North Baghdad, a security source said on Monday. Both attacks were carried out via car-bombs this afternoon at Tuz-Khormato, in which the first blast targeted the buildings of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, while the second explosion occurred near the headquarters of the Iraqi Communist Party, a security source at the operations command of Saladin Province told KUNA. The source also said that the twin blasts caused severe property damage to over 15 civilian vehicles, three police cars, and the two parties' buildings, adding that police forces were able to arrest a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt as he was about to blow himself up inside Tuz Khormato hospital. Meanwhile, security forces have launched wide range searches and security precautions against possible other attacks in the city, closing all entries to the city at this moment, added the source.
