S. Korea's President to Visit Central Asian Countries


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Oul june 09 (qna) - south korea's president park geun-hye will visit uzbekistan kazakhstan and turkmenistan next monday to promote her "eurasia initiative" and to boost economic cooperation in gas and oil projects.

park will first visit uzbekistan and hold a summit with uzbek president islam karimov next tuesday. the two leaders are set to discuss ways to boost their strategic partnership in various areas. in particular they will discuss ways to smoothly carry out projects on developing the surgil gas field near the aral sea and expanding the talimarjan thermal power plant according to korea's (kbs world) website.

on her second stop park will visit kazakhstan south korea's biggest investment destination in central asia where some 250 korean companies are doing business. she will hold a summit with kazakh president nursultan nazarbayev next thursday and discuss ways to solidify their strategic partnership. park will discuss steps to expand cooperation in bilateral projects including the ongoing joint construction of a thermal power plant and a petrochemical complex in the central asian country. the two leaders are also set to share views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in science and technology and environment.

for her last stop park will visit turkmenistan next friday as the first south korean president to visit the country. she will hold a summit with turkmen president gurbanguly berdimuhamedow and discuss how the two sides can support south korean companies operating in turkmenistan. (qna)
