the visit came at the official invitation of turkish president abdullah gul according to iran's (irna) news agency.
iran's president rouhani will meet several senior turkish officials including his counterpart and turkish prime minister recep tayyip erdogan.
it is the first state visit by an iranian president to turkey since 1996. (qna)
