(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The trailer launch for uae-based film unforgettable was held on wednesday evening at grand midwest hotel media city.
tv heart-throb iqbal khan and newcomer alka verma play the leading roles in the film.
unforgettable directed by arshad yusuf pathan is essentially a musical love story that revolves around khan verma and british actress hazel crowney. it has been described as a battle between ‘first love’ and ‘soulmate’ and also stars niall o’brien (irish cricketer) in a friendly appearance.
zarah shah daughter of producer zafar shah spoke to city times about the project.
she revealed that initially the film was to be shot in ireland. “the crew had to do everything in a rush because the plan beforehand was to shoot in ireland but because of a weather problem they had to switch to another country in fifteen days flat. since we have our business in the uae dubai seemed like an ideal place to shoot in at such short notice.”
the film was shot in places like meydan racecourse index tower and creek park. zarah says they also tried to explore new places in the uae. “we also shot in this cute little french bakery in dubai media city. we tried to use unexplored locations rather than the typical ones like burj al arab or burj khalifa.”
the film’s producer zafar shah from grand media corporation revealed they ventured into movies after his company sponsored salman khan’s being human event in 2010.
zarah adds “our family moved here eight years ago from ireland to start a hotel business. and slowly they started coming in contact with a lot of film industry people because dubai is a hub. we sponsored a being human event in 2010; we were their hospital partners and they came and stayed with us. my dad sat with salman and sohail khan for a while. ideas were discussed these guys are always looking for people to invest in movies. and that’s how we got into movies.”
the film was shot in the months of october and november. “all the crew was local right from technicians to the camera crew and transport crew. we took as many people as we could from here and the bare minimum crew from india which was our casting directors actors and line producer” says zarah.
zarah joked about her next film saying “our script was well bound and did not give us scope to randomly include a song or a scene. maybe in the next film we might do such a thing. i am going to go and tell salman (khan): ‘we are stuck in the movie industry because of you now why don’t you work in our film.’”
popular bollywood actor kiran kumar was present in dubai for the trailer launch; he told city times: “i am playing a don who loves his daughter and would defy everything under the sun to make sure that his daughter gets whatever she wants. it was a wonderful experience even though i do not have a major role in this film. shooting in dubai and exploring the city was a great experience. we had the right permissions locations and crew members everything went like clockwork.”
he hoped the uae government would provide more infrastructure to budding filmmakers. “i would like to make an appeal to the authority to provide infrastructure so that more people in the city can make movies very easily.”
alka verma says “as a debutante actress i was very nervous about working with established actors like kiran kumar and iqbal khan. but it turned out to be a great learning experience. i really enjoyed shooting here; my favourite location was index tower where we shot a song. ras al khaimah was beautiful beyond words and so was the creek.”
kiran kumar on bobby jasoos:
“i am excited about bobby jasoos. very seldom do we come across films which are perfect in every department right from crew to actors. vidya balan as we know is perfect in every department; she is the best actor we have currently. i personally feel bobby jasoos could not be done without vidya balan. my character’s name is anees khan. he is a very important character in the story. i will not reveal more about him right now.”
