Palestinian FM summons Australian Amb. over Jerusalem remarks

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian Foreign Ministry summoned Australian Ambassador in Palestine on Sunday to question him about latest remarks made by Attorney-General for Australia George Brandis, in which he dropped the use of the term "occupied" from East Jerusalem. These remarks are contrary to all international decisions regarding Jerusalem and Palestine as they are still under occupation in line with UN resolutions, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki said in a press conference. Al-Maliki said that his ministry has summoned the Australian Ambassador and expressed to him concern over Brandis' statements, adding that the ministry has also asked for an official clarification regarding occupied Jerusalem in the next days in order to determine the upcoming Palestinian steps and coordinate with Arab and Islamic sides. He also said that the Arab League will discuss Australia's stance during the extraordinary meeting in mid-June, noting at the same time that his government is continuing work with all international organizations to exit the hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners' crisis.
