Algerian, French FMs deny military intervention in Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) During talks in Algiers on Sunday, the foreign ministers of Algeria and France denied talk of their nations' military involvement, along with the US, in southern Libya. Algeria's Ramtane Lamamra told reporters in a joint press conference with his French counterpart that the news was "unfounded" and that Algeria was "committed to its belief against intervention in the internal affairs of other nations." Meanwhile, France's Laurent Fabius pledged his country's support of Algerian mediation in the political crisis in Mali, which he described as effective. Fabius hailed these efforts, which aim to find a solution that pleases all sides in Mali, adding that both sides were committed to the situation. Algeria and France are working side-by-side in tackling terrorist organisations, he underlined. Algeria's experience in handling terrorism is extremely effective, he said, expressing his satisfaction over cooperation on this, he viewed as excellent with France, amid their mutual respect of sovereignty. On relations, he said were excellent between Paris and Algiers, Fabius expressed hope these would flourish on the level of manpower and security exchanges.
