Austrians spend USD8b on internet shopping in 2013


(MENAFN) According to a research institute, Austrians have spent more than USD8 billion on internet shopping last year, Xinhua reported. Goods from local companies received only half of the spending, accounting for 4.5 percent of total retail volume in the country. "There had been an average annual increase in Internet shopping spending of about 23 percent, or USD410 million, since 2006," a researcher from the Austrian Institute for SME Research said. Data showed that clothing sector accounted for the largest spent amount, with USD630 million spent, followed by electronics with USD500 million.
