(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The international community eyes support for the Lebanese Army a necessity for the country's unity, stability and security, said the visiting Italian Foreign Minister, Federica Mogherini, on Saturday.
The Italian minister, speaking at a joint news conference with her Lebanese counterpart, Jibran Bassil, confirmed "the Rome conference" for backing the Lebanese Army would be held in a few days, adding that it focus on international support for the army and organizing cooperation with the military establishment.
At another Level, Italy has contributed with euro 150 million for aiding Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
For his part, Bassil thanked Italy for taking part in the international peace-keeping mission in South Lebanon and hosting the planned international conference that would involve representatives of 40 states, the European Union and the Arab League.
The convention is due in Italy on June 17.
